Is there a medical condition related with anger?
My mom totally freaks out almost every other day for short arguments, but more recently, shes been having 1 and even two hour long arguments with not only me, but my dad and sister too. She talks to us all the time about how to control OUR anger, but I don't think she really gets it for herself. Is there an actual medical condition related with anger and arguments? What would be causing it? Is it lack of sleep?

- it could be lack of sleep, hormonal changes, (menopause, pregnancy thyroid condition, etc) depression, bipolar disorder, even anxiety or panic attacks. maybe you and the rest of your family should have an intervention of sorts when your mom is calm. reasure her you love her and aren't angry, but just want her to be happy and get her anger adressed with professional help.
- Not an easy thing to tell... Only a doctor can give you the right answer or your mom. Maybe she is going through an early menopause? Maybe she is stressed over other things that you are unaware of.. Maybe your parents are having issues with each other? I am sure there is something that triggers these feelings of anger.. Just be there for her and show more love and affection for her pain. If she doesn't snap out of it then ask a family member who she trusts to intervene and help out.... good luck.
- There are several possibilities... Explosive Personality Disorder Antisocial Personality Disorder Post Traumatic Stress Disorder Dissociative Identity Disorder many psychotic disorders Diabetes Lack of sleep can lead to psychotic symptoms, so, yes. Start keeping a log of her tantrums...circumstances, time and day, duration, etc. Catch EVERYTHING for at least a week. Then find a way to get her and the log in to a general practitioner, who will then recommend a doctor who specializes...possibly endocrine, more likely a psychiatrist.
- yes,it's called bipolar. Someone I know went to a shrink and was put on meds for it. You get very mad and blow things out of porportion.
- It can be anything; ranging from hormonal to stress, lack of sleep, worry, etc. It can be a medical condition but it need not be a medical condition, as well. She needs to recognise that her anger is causing unhappiness not only to others but to herself. When she can take responsibility for her anger, then healing can begin.
