does epileptic attacke associated with hypoxia ?

my brother have epilepsy and i want to know, does seziure cuz hypoxia to the brain ? does it matter how many attackes he have in one month, does it affect the prognosis?

  1. It can if he stops breathing or vomits while he is seizing & this blocks off his airway. That is why you should turn him onto his side.
  2. The nature of a major seizure means that a degree of hypoxia will occur even if the patient is placed on their side. The more seizures in a month the potentially more damaging to the brain it will be. If your brother is on medication and still having frequent seizures he needs to have his meds reviewed so that his control is better. The real danger is that if your brother goes into Status Epilepticus then brain damage can be severe and the general effect on the body can be damaging too;
