Why did USA cancel both The 4400 and The Dead Zone and leave both open-ended?

- Well, The 4400 got pretty bad after the pilot episode so I suppose they didn't feel the need to spend millions on a crappy show no one was watching. I'd wager something similar happened with The Dead Zone. Not all shows finish a season knowing they aren't coming back. Each season, networks will evaluate their programming and decide what should go into production and what should be dropped from the schedule.
- Because our TV network people are STUPID! I'm always frustrated too, with when new shows come and go and I can't find them either!
- Yes they are both canceled. Heres the link to prove it. http://www.eonline.com/gossip/kristin/detail/index.jsp?uuid=957917e8-b603-4a64-8b40-d582bbfe2f19
- The 4400 wasn't left open ended. The series finale at the end of season 4 wrapped things up pretty well. Honestly, they should have ended it with the season 3 finale instead of making a mediocre 4th season. I'm not a fan of the Dead Zone. I'm glad it's gone.
