Hypoxia and Medicine

What is the name of my disorder?

I have alot of problems with sleeping. I thought it was at first insomnia but I don't have problems falling asleep. I'll come home from school and immeadiately take a nap for almost 3 hours. I'm always tired and I tend to fall asleep in my classes durning the day. On weekends I'll sleep +12 hours and I'm still tired. Is this a medical condition? And if so, how serious? Is there any information someone can give me on this?

  2. i THINK it is still insomnia, just a different form there are different kinds.
  3. It just sounds like you're a tired overworked student!
  4. Well you have the working-too-much syndrome. Try taking a day off and see how you feel.
  5. narcolepsia
  6. go get yourself checked out by a doctor
  7. Depression looks like the key winner here.
  8. restless leg syndrome?
  9. Sounds like you may have mono. You should see your doctor though.! When you have Mono, you ALWAYS want to sleep and you always feel very tired!
  10. umm might wanna get a blood test- could be anemic or something (lack or iron, making u tried) im no doctor tho, but u shud go to a doctor i dont think thats normal :S
  11. Chronic Fatigue Syndrome or Chronic Fatigue Immundysfuntion Syndrome. Try being tested for the epstein barr virus or mono.
  12. Its called being a teen, same "problem", you know that oversleeping makes your "sleepier"! lol
  13. could be mononucleosis
  14. could be low blood pressure. i suffer from the same thing, turns out i didn't have enough iron in me 2 keep going. get yourself checked by the doc.
  15. Sounds like Sleep Apnea. check this link and see if it sound like what you are going through. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sleep_apnea
  16. your sleep pattern is screwed up you need to skip the 3 hr naps and get a good night sleep every night
  17. could be several things. You could have sleep apnea. Mono, or maybe depression. Go to the doctor and explain your symptons. They will help you out.
  18. Your growing so you need as much sleep as you can get. Youre fine if youre sleeping 12+ hours on the weekends your body is adjusting to growning so your uber tired. It will go away....Plus school was boring for me too you dont have to lie haha.
  19. Hello, Why not just go to the doctors? I mean there is a lot of info on the computer, however none of us are your doctor. If nothing else go to the nurse at your school. You might just be a teenager who needs your sleep.......
  20. you could have a serious problem from low blood sugar to depression to diabetes.
  21. I would look at the fact that you are taking 3 hours naps which could disrupt your sleep at night. Maybe you aren't sleeping well at night. Maybe it's your bed. Try logging in a sleep log to see when you fall asleep, how tired you feel the next morning, ect. Also, you are a student, and that is a lot of stress which could affect your sleeping habits. Try talking to your Dr. about it. They can help! I know because i have had sleep problems in the past because of stress from school. Good luck!
  22. WEBMD.com type in what you asked and it will give u the description.
  23. there may not be a problem. try going to bed consistantly at the same time every night. get up at the same time every day (even on the weekends). stick to a consistant sleep schedule, getting the same number of hours, at least 8, every single night. your sleep schedule could be sorta off because u sleep so much on the weekends and perhaps not enough during the week. also too much sleep can make you even more tired. if sticking to a sleep schedule doesnt help, then go see a doctor.
  24. The two most likely causes of too much sleeping are: depression in an aldolescent, or atypical depression and narcolepsy (much rarer, causes you to need lots of sleep and fall asleep at inappropriate times eg when you're in class) Bear in mind that anything under 14 hours a day actually isn't abnormal (medically at least) especially if you're young.
  25. I believe that you probably do have a sleep disorder of some type. But it can be one, or a combination of factors that contribute to your problems. It can also be a health problem, such as your thyroid, neurological conditions, epilepsy (rare), and what you are eating and drinking. Please visit this link to see if any of these are affecting you, and make an appointment with your doctor.
  26. your a chic so it could be hypothyroidism you should look it up and check for other symptoms, its not that serious though
  27. It is a likely you are normal. however Your symptoms are such that i would check them out. Go see your doctor and ask for a full spectrum blood test. Set up a regular sleeping pattern, never go till you pass out. You will be all right.
  28. Could be anemia, narcolepsy, a virus, or some form of insomnia. If you are a growing teenager, feeling tired and sleeping a lot can be normal. It is not laziness! If you sleep is unrefreshing, you may have a sleep disorder, like not getting enough deep sleep (there are 4 stages of sleep). Check with your doctor. I developed insomnia when I was 16. My story is at http://www.fms-help.com/insomnia.htm - that was 40 years ago. It's possible you have something like Chronic Fatigue Syndrome - I've had that since 1987 - my story is at http://www.fms-help.com/fatigue.htm if you want to read about that. Hopefully your doctor can help you figure out what's going on. Or maybe it will go away by itself eventually - hopefully! Are you under any unusual stress?
