Hypoxia and Medicine

Just started levalbuterol (xoponex)?

Fellow users of this medication or possible doctors/nurses, how severe are the side effects of nervousness, tremors and headache? I'm experiencing all three although the worst is the headache and overall feeling of being lightheaded that are currently bugging me. I hope I didn't OD, I followed the directions. Current dosage is 1.25mg/ 6 hours (but I've kept it at 3 times a day so far) Also taking prednisone and levaquin. Diagnosis: acute bronchitis and hypoxia Forgot to mention that I am using a nebulizer -- don't want anyone thinking I am an idiot because I'm taking it as straight shots or something.

  1. I stopped taking albuterol pill because it make me cough really hard that almost break my ribs. I replace it with over counter MUCINEX 1200mg and it release up to 12 hours and it works. I don't know how bad your is your bronchitis but you are taking so many medications at the same-time. Be careful with prednisone it is dependency medication and one of side effect is nervous system. You can ask your doctor for iron shot monthly and vitamin B 12 and magnesium can help the blood flow and get better oxygen. You are taking all the medications that my father was taken.
  2. If I were you, I would report this to my dr. Those are side effects of xopenex....sometimes when our patients experience those side effects we lower the dose from 1.25 to 0.63. Also depending on the dr, most just give a steroid such as prednisone for bronchitis. I have never heard of anyone becoming dependant on it.... some people get this steroid confused with the anabolic steroids used for muscle building. Anyway the word bronchitis when you break it down means inflammation of the bronchi.... so usually most dr's will give a steroid because it is an anti-inflammatory. So 1 of 2 things may happen, your dr may lower your dose or may take you completely off of it. Smart move too on lowering your frequency to 3 times a day.... wish we had more patients who understood these things as well as you do. Best wishes and good luck. I know that Dr's offices are closed today, so you may want to call a local clinic and talk to the dr on call.
