Hypoxia and Medicine

Is there a manageable medical condition that requires daily self-given injections or someone will die without?

I'm writing a story and I need to know if any medical condition exists where someone could die if their injections are not administered at a set interval. I was thinking Diabetes and Insulin? But I don't know if that could result in death if someone was trapped and couldn't inject themselves? Anyone have a suggestion of a condition that exists or maybe a movie where this scenario was done successfully (besides "Hand That Rocks The Cradle" where Asthma was used). Many thanks in advance for your help!

  1. a severe diabetic would die pretty quickly if trapped without food, go into a glucose coma. the injections wouldn't be the problem. starvation and low blood sugar would.
  2. diabetes will cause coma then death
  3. idk I immediately thought of "Diabee-tus" if you know what I mean! ;) (If you do, I'm glad, 'cause I sure don't!!)
  4. Type I (also known as "juvenile") diabetes.
  5. Blood Clots Heparin or Lovenox Injections Hemophilia (Factor VIII deficiency). Replacing missing clotting factor daily or as needed. (Trapped and injured, a definite emergency, absence of clotting factor, can bleed to death) Pernicious Anemia autoimmune disease B12 Injections can be needed daily in some situations Diabetes Insulin Injections (emergent, can deteriorate, however if not eating, secondary to being trapped and no food, blood sugar will run higher, but generally will be not as emergent as an injured Hemophiliac.
