Is this a medical condition?

I prefer to be awake during the night. I'm very hyper active during the dark but during the day I'm sleepy. I thought I had insomnia but I went a whole night and day without sleeping so I could fall asleep during 9 pm but I woke up during 3 pm and I was still sleepy. Is there such thing as nocturnal humans?

  1. You may have a messed up sleep pattern, happened to me, i basically became nocturnal, but through strict waking up, it has been fixed.
  2. if you make a habit of being up nights and sleeping days, your body sets your "biological clock" accordingly. This is true of many police officers and fire fighters who work a steady night shift. The same thing also happens when you travel by plane across several time zones. It usually takes a few days to get accustomed to the time at your destination when it is several hours different than what you were used to.
  3. Yeah, it sounds like you just ruined your sleep pattern a bit. And if you went to bed at 9 and woke up at three, that's only six hours of sleep. You need at least eight hours of sleep each night, and who knows how much you have to catch up on. (you can't sleep one day with two hours of sleep and eight the next. You will need to sleep eight the next plus the other six you missed) just try getting back on the usual sleep pattern, again. i.e. sleeping at night and waking the day.
