What medical condition makes a person sensitive to heat?
I know this person who cannot go out in the heat during the summer, otherwise it will make him faint. He doesn't like to discuss this, but I would like to understand him a little better. Also, in his apartment during the summer he always has to have the air conditioner on or he will faint or have problems. What medical condition is this?

- Possibly some type of asthma. We had a tenant who needed the A/C super cold all the time for his son with asthma.
- There are various reasons, the most severe could be autonomic dysfunction, but medications that people take for things as simple as high blood pressure make their body less capable of adaptation to heat and other factors.
- Your friend has a condition known as "heat intolerance" - it is the inability to be comfortable when external temperatures rise. Heat intolerance often produces a feeling of being overheated and can cause heavy sweating. Heat intolerance usually comes on slowly and lasts over the long-term. Your friend might be suffering from any hypothalamic disease or thyrotoxicosis. I would suggest that He should consult a doctor if the symptoms are severe enough to cause poor performance and decrease in the quality of life.
