diarrhea since 8 months?

I have been experiencing diarrhea for several months now. I was treated for Giardia in May of this year. But my diarrhea still persists. I've went to Gastroenterologist and he doesn't know what's going on either. I've done many test including stool test, blood work, colonoscopy, upper gi with small bowel, lactose intolerence, CT scan, and Small Intestine Bacterial overgrowth as well which came out positive. But I was prescribed Xifaxan for that small intestine bacterial overgrowth. He believes im having this diarrhea because I had giardia for so long in my system and that messed up my digestive system. however i don't believe that's the issue anymore because i had that treated couple of months ago. currently, he has me on Questran on daily basis. it stops my diarrhea on the days i take and gives me constipation. but on the days i don't take questran, i get my diarrhea back slowly. the symptoms im facing are loose stool(not watery), its kind of gooey and sticky looking, gas and sometimes bloating. the stools are yellow in color as if they passed my intestine really quickly. I don't know what's causing the symptoms. I know im not allergic to any kind of food. Don't know whats causing my problems. I never had any serious problem as this before. nor i have any previous history of medical conditions.

  1. Your doctor is probably right on his advice to you. But, many doctors neglect the power of probiotics in restoring the natural bacteria in your bowel and helping to resolve diarrhea. Adding a carton or two of yogurt per day to your diet may help resolve this problem. There are also other products on the market like this (probiotics) that might be able to help. This is not a quick fix and will take at least 2 weeks before you will know whether it is working or not.
  2. he is your doc.. what he says must be right...
