Will my medical condition stop me from joining the USMC?!?
have something called Hereditary Hemorrhagic Telangiectasia (HHT)...Hereditary hemorrhagic telangiectasia is a rare inherited disorder characterized by malformations of various blood vessels usually resulting in excessive bleeding (hemorrhaging). Chronic nosebleeds are often the first apparent symptom associated with hereditary hemorrhagic telangiectasia. Malformation of various blood vessels may result in abnormalities affecting various organ systems of the body including the lungs, brain, and liver. HHT is inherited as an autosomal dominant trait. I haven't had any problems with it in 6 years. Will this stop me from joining the USMC? IS there any way that i can make it so it wont effect me getting in? Pull some-string or something.

- Most likely, yes, this will prevent you from joining the USMC, or any other branch, for that matter. By nature, the military puts you at risk for some degree of bodily harm, and a disorder that causes you to hemorrhage would put you at a high degree of risk. Check with a recruiter for better information, but I think it is likely to prevent military service for you.
- If I were you I wouldn't even try it. Even though you have had no issues in 6 years, it could definitely be agitated by Boot Camp and the rigors of military life. Don't put this on your battle buddies. I had a buddy who joined the Army and the physical stresses of Basic Training induced diabetes. He is now medically retired.
- My sister has that and it is a very serious condition, she some times can't get even a small scrape to clot. So I would say you are not qualified. Try getting the proper degrees and work for the DoD. That can be your service.
- i dont know bro, ask your local recruiter
