Hypoxia and Medicine

Is there a way my medical condition can be wavered so i can join the USMC?!?

hemorrhagic telangiectasia is a rare inherited disorder characterized by malformations of various blood vessels usually resulting in excessive bleeding (hemorrhaging). Chronic nosebleeds are often the first apparent symptom associated with hereditary hemorrhagic telangiectasia. Malformation of various blood vessels may result in abnormalities affecting various organ systems of the body including the lungs, brain, and liver. HHT is inherited as an autosomal dominant trait. I haven't had any problems with it in 6 years. Will this stop me from joining the USMC? Is there a way I can work around it?

  1. If it doesn't stop you from being able to do physical activities or being able to fight then I think they will accept you.
  2. You might be able to get a medical wavier, but some 'chronic' conditions can be disqualifying... For the correct answer, specific to your case, you'll have to ask a recruiter. Good luck! :)
  3. ok get every bit of information from your Civilian Doctor saying you have it, if you don't the way the military works is if they don't have documentation about it, you don't have it, but you need to tell a recruiting officer and maybe get a signed waiver from your civilian doctor ok'ing your enlistment.
