I had two injections of Stadol during labor, they did nothing so I got an epidural. It was my choice. 9. Were forceps or vacuum used to deliver the baby? No. 10. What care and attention did you receive during labor? during delivery? after the birth? Routine. I had an easy labor, quick delivery, and no tearing. 11. Labor was painful until I got the epidural, delivery was easy, but tiring, I was exhausted and famished after giving birth. 13. Did you have the baby with you in your room? I have been pregnant twice. I have one girl 2 years old and a boy 3 months old. 2. With my first child I started seeing an O.B immediatly. With my second I was more lazy about it. I did not need a prenatal class. 3. Were you informed about what labor would be like? How did you learn about labor? Did you take any prenatal course or childbirth education class? My O.B told me and I read many books like What To Expect When Expecting and Pregnancy Week By Week. 4. How did you know labor had begun? With both my pregnancy I felt contractions before anything else. 5. Where did the birth take place; home, hospital. birthing room? Both pregnancy took place in a birthing room at a hospital. 6. Who was present during labor? who was present during delivery? My partner, doctor, and some nurses for all of it. 7. Was the delivery considered normal or were there any complications? (Ex: prematurity, excessive bleeding, anoxia, malpresentaion, forceps delivery, c-section? With my first child she had pooped in the sack and had an irregular heart beat. She was fine once she was born. With my son they said he was to high up and almost did a c-section but, they gave the vacuum a try and he came right out. 8. Were drugs administered during labor? during delivery? Who made the decision? I had an epidural with both. I don't think it worked well with the second because I was in pain. 9. Were forceps or vacuum used to deliver the baby? Vacuum with my second. 10. What care and attention did you receive during labor? during delivery? after the birth? My doctors and nursed where great. I felt like they trated me like royalty. I would go back and do it again. 11. Were you able to hold or touch the baby immediately after delivery? For my daughter I was not able to since she pooed in the womb. With my son I was able to and also breastfeed right after. 12. How would you describe how you felt during labor? during delivery? after the birth? With my first I felt great throughout the process and even better after birth. With my second I felt good at the beggining but during the delivery it was a nightmare and painful. After I felt so much better. 13. Did you have the baby with you in your room? how long did you stay in the hospital? did you have any help at home with the baby or any infant care classes? I know now they require you to have the baby with you in the room unless they need to go to the neonatal unit. I was only in the hospital 24 hours after the babies where born. After they where born it was just me since my partner works. No infant care classes.

I learned I was pregnant the first time by my husband telling me to go get a test and to prove him wrong I did...but all that did was prove me wrong lol, with the second I missed a period and took about 6 tests...and with this one I had what I thought was a period, but started thinking about it and realized it wasn't a period after all and went and got a test and sure enough I was pregnant...So thats 3 pregnancies...Only one to term so far She's a girl and she's 3. My second was ectopic, and I'm 19 weeks pregnant right now! 2. I got prenatal care with all three as soon as I found out I was pregnant...With my first I took some classes... 3. I knew what to expect about labor and delivery but I wasn't as informed by my midwife as I would have liked to been...I mostly read alot of books and watched alot of shows to educate myself... 4. I knew labor was beginning when I started having contractions...and well I just knew I guess...there was no denying it in my case... 5. I gave birth in a hospital room. 6. My husband, my mother, and my cousin were present druing labor and delivery.. 7. I had excesive bleeding during my labor I ended up having to have a blood transfusion. 8. I had absolutley no drugs for pain...I did have to have antibiotics administerd through and IV because I tested positive for group B Strep...I made the decision to go naturally and I'm planning the same thing this time. 9. No...no forceps or vacuum. 10. In my case I didn't get the care or attention that I should have I wasn't even aware that I had any complications until the next day, I'll never use that midwife again. 11. Acutally I got to sorta deliver my daughter...once her shoulders were out I was told to reach down and grab her that she was mine...and I did... 12. Hmm...to be honest I can't tell you how it felt during labor I mean I know it hurt and I know delivery hurt but all the pain was forgotten as soon as I saw my baby and I don't even recall how bad the pain was now. 13. Yes my baby was in the room with me...I stayed in the hospital for 3 days...the only help I had at home was my husband and my mother came and helped ocasionally. No, no baby or infant care classes.

My son was i wasnt ready since i was 7 months and my daughter was shocking cause i walked around 5cm and had to rushed to the hospital for an emergency c-section since she was footling breech 13. My daughter was in the room with me yes and i was in the hospital for 2 days.. my son was in the hospital for 2 months and i was in there for 5 days with him

During labor I dont remember much, delivery I dont remember much....just that it wasn't that bad, and after I just wanted to get the magnisium out of my system so I could walk again and see my baby. 13. She stayed in the NICU the whole time and left days after I did. There was no help at home...my family is 1200 miles away so it's just hubby and I.

The babies would always stay in the room with me, I never stayed more than 1 night. I had my husband at home to help.

They are 20 months I went in for a pap smear and came out pregnant. It was unplanned and a total shock 2. It began 8 weeks later, when I found out. No I did not take any course, but I have taken lamaze as a coach to my friend 3. Were you informed about what labor would be like? I've seen two babies be delivered and have had many friends with lots of insight on the whole labor experience. 4. How did you know labor had begun? Doctor broke my water sac and it started right away 5. Where did the birth take place; home, hospital. birthing room? Hospital, I went in thinking my water broke. I just peed my pants :) 6. Yes a saddleblock. I was too far dialated for an epidural so they gave me that as a last resource of numbness 9. Were forceps or vacuum used to deliver the baby? not that I know of 10. Were you able to hold or touch the baby immediately after delivery? No, I had to deliver the second. My SO was the first to hold them. I was too doped up on morphine at the time. 12. How would you describe how you felt during labor? during delivery? after the birth? Labor - painful and hard to keep a steady breath. Delivery - exhausting!. After - tired and sore 13.   9. 1. HPT, I knew when I conceived though- 1 pregnancy, 1 girl 2. Started with OB @ 6 wks or so, routine care until I became sick @ 28 wks- not time for prenatal classes 3.I'm a nurse had good idea about labor 4. they induced it 5.Hospital, Operating room 6. Husband and family there during labor from what I remember, only physicians, nurses during delivery 7.Had dangerous c section after induced labor @ 28 weeks for a condition called HELLP syndrome, baby born 1lb 15oz 8. Yes drugs, was dr decision, needed to lower BP and deliver quickly, had to be put to sleep for delivery 9.no 10. Had one on one nurse during labor that never left the room prior to delivery, stayed in hospital for 7 days, 6 days after delivery 11.no- unable to hold her for 20 dyas, could only touch her hand, did not see her until the next day 12.surreal, like things where happening around me, not to me, was on Magnesium Sulfate IV infusion so that made some difference, had a morphine PCA pump for 24 hrs after delivery 13.She was in the NICU for almost 3 months, no classes

Because I had DVT discovered in the 26 week. So I was hospitalized for a week and then back home on blood thinner injections. With this past pregnancy I had my regular OB and a high risk doctor My high risk doctor did ultrasound every couple of weeks after week 18. when did your parental care begin? at 7-8 weeks with both children did you take any prenatal course of childbirth education class? no 3. What care and attention did you receive during labor? nothing different from regular inductions and then c-section except I had extra blood tests etc because of my clotting disorder. And I wore the inflatable socks after both c-section for awhile- and then back on my blood thinners after delivery 11. Were you able to hold or touch the baby immediately after delivery?- I tried to hold my first right after I was out of the OR but it was basically impossible due to me shaking so much. After my second it was very easy immediately after I was out of the OR 12. I couldn't think of anything else. After my second c-section I was relieved that I wasn't in that much pain and happy to have my beautiful baby 13. With my first though my baby left one night to stay in the nursery so I could get some sleep and at other times for tests etc. But after the second birth my baby only left for about 1 hour the entire time for a medical check. how long did you stay in the hospital? 3 days with both did you have any help at home with the baby or any infant care classes?   11. 1) i didnt have my period so went down down to the hospital and they confirmed it. I've had 2 pregnancy and im 19. 2) I started seeing my OB right after I found out. As for birthing classes I never finished them cause one, i didnt like the instructor and two, they never told me anything I didnt already no. 3) I had seen alot of births so I was very much aware of what it would be it. And much to my surprise it was alot easier then I thought it would be. But I think im just a freak when it comes to pain. 4) Im first I new because my water broke. My second I knew because my doctor told me I would be in labor in the next 2 days and my contractions went from 4 mins apart to 2 min in a very short time. 5) gave birth at the hospital both times. 6) first time everyone was there. to many to name. second time only my husband, the nurse and my doctor. 7) they were very normal never had any conplications. 8) Techniquely i had pain meds with both but my second i only had one shot. They wouldnt give me anything because they thought I was in the beginning of labor and just thought i was being a baby. they were VERY wrong. 9) nothing was used. 10) the second time they were very pushy and it was getting annoying. The first time there were pretty good other then the fact that they wouldnt get off my boobs. (I was breastfeeding) 11) yes, i was the first one to hold my little men. 12) other then how painful it was I was thinking hurry up and get this thing out of me. my second time my doctor make me laugh. that was weird. 13) baby stays with you the whole time. well for the most part. and the first time they made me stay for 3 days but the second time they new i was ready to go so i was out in 24 hours. Who made the decision? the drugs used to induce me made me in horrible pain, I didn't want drugs but after I blacked out from pain the OB gave them to me anyway then later I had to have a spinal block for the c-section 9. They only took them when they needed to do vitals or check ups, etc. No, I refused help and all the fuss. I just wanted to be in the comfort of my own home with my family.

A woman's hospital 6.Family. Friends and family. 7. A normal delivery 8.No drugs before or during labor. I had a natural vaginal birth. I made the decision and also a lot of people told me that was the best way to have a baby. 9.No 10.Everyone who was around me was very supporting.They would tell me when to push and breathe.After birth they wrapped my baby up and ran different test. 11.Yes 12.During labor I was a little afraid but kept going on.During delivery I was so anxious and happy. I received prenatal care beginning at 8 weeks with all of my pregnancies. I called the doctor as soon as I found out but they told me they did not schedule any apts. until week 8. I took Lamaze with all 3 children who went to term. With my first I took the full 8 week class, with my second a refresher Lamaze class, and with my third I took the condensed class which was longer than the refresher but shorter than the 8 week one. The lamaze class began in my 28th week for my first, and my 8th month for my 2nd and 3rd. 3. Were you informed about what labor would be like? How did you learn about labor? I was informed what labor could be like and learned techniques to help deal with the pain such as different ways to breathe during contractions and focusing on objects that really helped. Nothing could prepare me enough for what it would really be like though, and even with my 2nd and 3rd children each labor and delivery was so different from the 1st. 4. With my 1st my water broke, 2nd had to be induced and when contractions began I knew labor had started, with my 3rd I had severe back labor and just knew because I had been through it twice already. 5. Was the delivery considered normal or were there any complications? (Ex: prematurity, excessive bleeding, anoxia, malpresentaion, forceps delivery, c-section? All three of my babies came out looking at the ceiling instead of the floor which caused severe back labor. My first daughter's shoulder got stuck so they had to push on my belly to get her out. She was not breathing well and was grey so they had to suction her, give her oxygen, and smack her around a little to get her breathing better. My second was just fine... my third child... my son's head got stuck in the birth canal. Labor was prolonged 28 hours. They tried a vaccuum extraction which did not work so they gave me a big episiotomy and literally pulled him out with forceps. 8. Were drugs administered during labor? during delivery? Who made the decision? 1st daughter Stadol and Pitocin. 2nd daughter just Pitocin. 3rd child Morphine, Pitocin, and Cervadil. The doctor recomended these so I agreed. 9. Were forceps or vacuum used to deliver the baby? With 3rd child tried vaccuum extraction because his head was stuck which did not work so they used forceps. 10. What care and attention did you receive during labor? during delivery? after the birth? I felt like the nurses did an excellent job caring for me during labor to get me as comfortable as possible by using the whirlpool tub, balls, massagers, etc. After the birth they did a great job too. 11. Were you able to hold or touch the baby immediately after delivery? Not my 1st because she needed immediate care because she was grey and not breathing. As soon as they got her better they let me hold her which was about 15-20 minutes after she was born. My 2nd and 3rd were placed in my arms right away. 12. How would you describe how you felt during labor? Extreme back pain, stomach pain, frustration, tired, pain, pain, pain, and more pain. during delivery? It was actually a little relief to be able to push with the contractions, although it did hurt when the head was coming out. after the birth? Very tired, excited, emotional... 13. Did you have the baby with you in your room? Yes my 1st 2 did. With my son it was such a long labor and with the other 2 older kids at home the nurses wanted me to get as much rest as I could. They let me rest for most of the time but brought him to me for feedings. how long did you stay in the hospital? Baby 1 1 1/2 days. Baby 2 two days, baby 3 two days. did you have any help at home with the baby or any infant care classes? With my first I took the baby care classes and had a home visiting nurse come once a week who worked with first time mothers. With my second and third I did not have alot of help which was alright with me.
