Hypoxia and Medicine

is it safe for persons above 60 to travel at high altitudes above 5000 meters.?

I want to get feedback from the persons who have actually travelled at high altitudes instead of reading from the travel guides.

  1. It doesn't matter what age you are, it depends on your underlying overall health. Only your physician can answer this question.
  2. Passengers flying commercial airlines should not be concerned. All commercial airplanes are pressurized and therefore the high altitude at which commercial jet airlines fly is irrelevant. It is recommended that passengers above 50, use Flight Socks to reduce the chances of blood clots in the legs causing deep vein thrombosis during travel. The flight socks can help prevent: * Risk of circulatory problems such as Deep Vein Thrombosis DVT (blood clots) * Swollen ankles It would be better if the passenger is medically fit. * Tired aching legs
  3. Supposed to have oxygen above 10,000 feet.
