How have people living on Everest adapted to life at such high altitudes?

  1. they have larger chests and lungs to compensate for the scarcity of oxygen. faster heart rate to pump more oxygen to the cells.
  2. There are no people living on Everest. But the Sherpa and other peoples who live in the valleys near Everest have unique hemoglobin-binding enzymes, doubled nitric oxide production, hearts that can utilize glucose, and lungs with an increased sensitivity to low oxygen.
