- just forgetfullness my grandma does it too, except with a notepad she takes with her everywhere. And then certain things she tapes around her bathroom mirror. some are quptes from tv, books, others are "don't throw away jars, need them". It's nothing to worry about.
- It could be related to Obsessive Compulsive Disorder.
- well it could be O.C.D that's a condition that causes a person to have obsessions and than do strange compulsive things to control the the obsessions. Like somebody who wants to have a lot of control over something. She might be afraid that she is going to forget something so she haves the compulsion to write it down so she wont. An example would be somebody who has to have their room in a certain order. Or somebody who is has constant strange habits that they feel the need to live by or something bad could happen. A person who is a control freak or a person who needs constant control over something. Fear of lack of the control. The obsession that leads to compulsive behavior. Its not really that uncommon. This was just an idea. It might not even be that. It was just the first thing I thought of.
- It might be her way of coping with early dementia or Alzheimer's disease. On the other hand, maybe she just likes Post-It notes.
- Grandma might be realizing that she is having trouble remembering things. Early signs of Alzheimers. Let her do what she needs to do to make herself comfortable. Watch for increases and if it interferes with her daily living. if it does, then she might be experiencing signs of early dementia or obsessive-compulsive disorder. The latter is highly unlikely, it usually manifests itself in the earlier years, but it isn't impossible. I would suggest asking her why she uses them and then talk to her about seeing a md for some medicine for Alzheimers. They are new, but they are out there.
