What exactly counts as a medical 'condition'?
I recently got private health care for my boyfriend through my work, however it does not include conditions you should have previously been aware of or sough medical advice for. He has had 2 collapsed lungs in the past 2 years (both lungs). Does this count as a 'condition' so won't be covered?

- Your insurance may want to know if the insured has any pre-existing conditions. What caused the collapsed lungs? This would be part of his history and not necessarily a pre-existing condition, although he may eventually have some respiratory issues down the road as a result of the collapsed lungs (asthma, vulnerable to lower respiratory concerns, allergies, etc.). To answer your question, this is not a pre-existing condition, but the result of an accident perhaps?? Did they happen spontaneously?? there may be a question that asks if he has been hospitalized in the past 5 yrs, or any other question that would be requesting historical information and in that case, you do need to answer it truthfully as they will find out and if they don't know upfront may not cover the resulting respiratory conditions. Good luck.
