- >>how old is your baby? name of baby? My baby is now 6 days old and her name is Emalie Alyvia. >>Is this your first baby? if not, how many previous pregnancies have you had? This is my second daughter. My first is 18 months old. Labor and Delivery 1.were you informed about what labor would be like? I knew what labor would be like because of the birth of my first daughter. 2.did you know what would take place physiologically to you and the baby? Somewhat. 3.did you take any prenatal course or childbirth education course? I did Lamaze classes but I knew a lot more from just experience with my first. 4.how did you know labor had begun? I knew labor was really getting started once my water broke. She was in my arms within 3 hours after that. 5.what care and attention did you recieve as labor progressed? during deliver? after deliver? As it progressed my b/f was there rubbing my belly and helping me through the contractions. The midwife came when my water broke. During the delivery my b/f coached me and gave me moral support. 6.were drugs administered during the birth? who made the decision about the neccessity for drugs? I had no drugs because I loved a homebirth with my first and wanted to do it for my second. 7.where did the birth take place? home? hospital? alternative center or birthing room? other? At my house. 8.was the delivery considered normal or were there complications? for mother? for infant?(for example:prematurely, excessive bleeding, anoxia, malpresentation, forceps delivery, cesarian section) The only thing that really happened was while the baby was crowning she became stuck but with a little pressure on my belly from the midwife she turned herself and was able to crown the rest of the way. 9.who was present during the labor? the delivery? My b/f and the midwife only. 10.were you able to hold or touch the baby immediately after delivery? I was able to feel the baby crown and caught her myself. I was the first one to hold her. Feelings about the total birth experience 1.could you describe how you felt during labor? during delivery? after the birth? During labor I was just so exhausted and during the delivery I was just focusing on crowning her and getting her here. After she was born I was so relieved. 2.what did you think when you first saw your baby? held or touched the baby? I was so amazed by how small and precious she was. 3.did you experience any unusal emotional "ups" and "downs" following the birth? Not really. 4.For fathers: did you feel a part of the birth 5. for mothers: how did you feel as a woman now? I almost felt superhuman. Like I could do anything, lol. 6.are you satified with the way the birth experience was handled? I felt very good about it. 7. do you want more children? why or why not? I think me and the b/f might try for one more in the next year or two.
- my baby will be a month next friday. he is Joshua. he is my first baby. i was informed on what labor would be like but you can never really be ready for it. i didnt know what to expect cause he is my first. i had nothing to compare it to. i never took any chilbirthing classes or anything. i had to be induced cause he was 11 days late. i had to have pitocin to get my contractions started and consistent. i didnt have any pain meds at all. i had him at the hospital. i had failure to progress and so i had to have a c section. my husband came in with me. i was able to give him a kiss before they took him to the nursery. i was scared but excited through the whole thing, and of course in pain. i thought he was so beautiful. i was in awe. everything went great. i feel a lot more grown up now and more responsible and my life feels more fulfilling. i did what i had to do for my boy. everything went fine. i want at least one more and hopefully its a girl next time :)
- my son is 3 months old, his name is Sean Patrick it is not my first, i have 2 others (3 total) Labor and Delivery: 1.yes, i had 2 previous labor experiences, both completely different from eachother though 2. yes, i knew what would take place. again, this was my 3rd child 3. i didnt take a class with this pregnancy, but i did with my first 4. i noticed that my stomach was getting hard and tightening. it was painless, so i wasnt sure if it was really labor, so i timed how often it happened and sure enough, every 5 minutes it was getting hard 5. my nurse was amazing. i didnt want any artificial pain relief this time around, and she was great at offering alternative methods of pain relief. my water had to be broken and i was also given pitocin because i was not progressing..i dont like staying in hospitals, so i left the next day 6. yes drugs were administered, but not for pain relief. i had to be given pitocin because labor wasnt progressing 7. i gave birth at a hospital 8. im pretty sure it was normal-i was 37 weeks, so i just made the mark of not being premature. 9. my husband, nurses, and doctors were the only ones present during labor. my mom got there just as i was pushing. oh, i think my FIL stopped by while i was in labor. 10. they put sean on my belly for me to hold immediately after giving birth to him Feelings about total birth experience 1.during labor i was pretty calm, it was painless up until the last 2 hours or so. during delivery i was just happy that he was finally coming out, the labor was long since i wasnt progressing. afterwards i was very tired. 2. my first reaction was "he has hair!!" (my first 2 were bald) i felt complete love for my baby the second i saw him 3. nothing unusual, just the normal feelings of being stressed and whatnot 4. my husband is not here right now, but he did his best to make me feel comfortable..he said he felt kinda helpless at the times i was in pain 5. well it was my 3rd child, so i didnt feel any differently 6. id say so..it went pretty well. i probably should have let them break my water that night like they proposed, but i wanted to wait and see if it would break on its own.. 7. well i have 3 boys, and i do want a girl. i'll have as many children as God blesses me with

- My son's name is Wyatt and he is 3 months old. He is not my first baby. I have had two other deliveries. 1. people always tell you what to expect but every deliver is different. So evening going into it with an idea, things happen. 2. I had a good idea. 3.I never took a prenatal or childbirth class or childbirth education course. I didn't think it would help me. I did fine without it. 4. I never went into labor by myself. I was induced at 37 weeks with all three of my kids. I live a distance from the hospital so I was induced. 5. The care I recieved was from the nurses. I was on potosin to induce labor. Also with two of my pregnancies I had gestational diabetes so they had to monitor my sugar levels. 6.I made the decision concerning drugs during the birth. I had an epidural with my first, didn't have any drugs with my second so I knew about doing it both ways. I opted for another epidural. And of course I was on potosin to induce labor. Labor had started on it's own after I had my water broke but wasn't progressing fast enough, that is when the potosin was administered through the IV. 7. The birth took place in the hospital. You never know what can happen during a delivery. I always wanted to be on the safe side for me and my baby. 8.There was no complications with this delivery. With my first they used a suction cup to get him out and it made small gashes in his head when they lost the suction the first time. 9.My husband was there, my mother, and my mother-in-law. 10.yes, they put the baby on my chest right after he came out. Then a few minutes later they took him to clean and warm him up. 1.I was nervous before hand, and then impatient to have my baby out. In pain before the epidural, very tired before pushing. While pushing I wasn't tired, and after I wasn't tired, just happy to have my baby.I was surprised at how small he was. he was the smallest out of all my kids. He only weighed 6lbs. 8oz. 2.I loved him instantly. I thought he looked like a little bull-dog because his face was puffy. 3.I am currently on Zoloft because of mood swings. I guess you call it the baby blues. I felt like crying for no reason on and off during the day. Also would get really angry for no reason. I am better now that I am on meds. 5. I feel like my family is complete. I couldn't imagine not having my three kids. My oldest son is 3, my daughter is 2 and my baby is 3 months. 6.I am very satisfied how the birth experience was handled this time. 7. My husband got a vascetomy before our baby was born. I do want more kids but finacially we couldn't afford any more so we took precautions to prevent that from happening. It does make me sad to know that I won't be having any more but I am blessed with the three I have.

- well I'm blind and my reading program won't let me go back and read while I'm answeing so I'll do my best. My baby's Kenity Alexandria she's 12 weeks. She's my only baby and I do want one more. I didn't take any classes and the only way I kinda knew what to expect was by asking my sisters. I knew I was in labor b/c I was induced a week after my due date. I did have an epidural, and the nurse decided I needed it b/c my blood pressure went up too high and the baby's heart was dropping. I felt excited, happy, and thankful through out the whole thing. Oh....and tired. Lol! In the room during the delivery was my husband, his mom, one of my sisters, my aunt, and my bestfriend. I didn't get to hold her right away which anoyed me that everyone else got to see her and hold her before I could even touch her, but I was bleeding too bad and had a third degree tare and had to have 4 pints of blood transfused. When I finally got to hold I felt relieved that she was finally here, excited, blessed, greatful, happier than I had ever been, and just so joyful. NOw I feel thankful that this person will always be a part of my life and I have someone to teach, love, and guide to be a wonderful person herself. I could never explain how much I love her. I'm sorry if I left anything out. I hope this helps.
