- Suck on a hard sweet on an aeroplane. It stops them popping. Your ears naturally try and equalise the pressure on both sides of your ear and this can be painful. The pop is them equalising, but sometimes they don't pop! The swet really help I find-at take off and landing, I heard it before, it has proved to be right, and some airlines give you sweets for it! Hope this helps!
