What illness might I have and what should I do?
I'm a 19 year old male and have currently contracted some sort of illness. Symptoms: Stomach: Nausea, no vomitting, incapable of judging if I'm hungry or not Head: Fever; feel of a narrowed air way in throat (specifically at the base of my neck), but no soreness; head feeling 'tight', but no headache Misc: Insomnia, this illness is preventing me from obtaining a good night's sleep. I also cannot tell how warm or cold it is in the room. I also should add that it is quite humid here and decently hot as well, not helping my condition. The lack of sleep is causing me to be extremely out of it and perhaps there is more to it than that. Prior to illness: My sleep schedule has been spontaneous and inconsistent and I believe that to be a possible link as it could have weakened my immune system. Do you have any possible ideas as to what illness I am currently suffering from? Should I seek medical attention and if not at what point should I?

- Sounds like what my mom had as side effects when she was on a water pill. It dehydrated her, and made her sick. You should seek medical attention, it sounds like it could progress into something inevitably fatal.
- See a doctor.
- You could just have the flu. It shows itself in many forms. It could be a simple as you described, to painful and debilitating enough to put you in the hospital. Just because you don't have "classic" symptoms, doesn't mean you do not have the flu...you might just have a different strain of it. Or, you could be diabetic. Low blood sugar can cause many of the symptoms you described, but more telling is the inability to tell temperature. It's unlikely, but still, If your symptoms persist, consult your doctor.
- if you question how you are feeling, it is better to see your doctor. it's better safe than sorry. every symptom is different for everyone. i had the same symptoms you are and it was just because my period was irregular (too much info i know, but just letting you know)
- Hi Dj, There is no way that anyone here can give you even a possible diagnosis. The symptoms you describe could be from a myriad of disorders. What you need to do is go to a doctor. He or she will examine you and take a complete medical history. Then they will do blood and urine tests to see of anything is abnormal. That is the only way you can find out what is wrong with you. You asked at what point you should seek medical attention. If your symptoms are bothering you enough to even ask us what might be wrong, then now is the time to seek medical attention. I wish you the best of luck. I hope things work out OK for you.
- Please don't take this wrong. I'm not being sarcastic or mean. But get an AIDS test. I'm in the medical field and I'm familiar with it. If you begin to feel like you can't handle your symptoms anymore, go to your nearest Emergency Room and request to get tested while there. They don't automatically test you for the virus. Good Luck!
