Hypoxia and Medicine

Best medical condition for my report?

I'm writing a report for biology class. I'm gonna do a presentation. I need some suggestions as to what the best human medical condition would be. Something interesting, in captivating, and maybe a little cool. I even heard of a disease that turns a human to wood. Things like that are appreciated.

  1. HI, i think you should do it on sickle cell. But who am i to answer your question!
  2. Giantism
  3. Maybe.... Dermatomyositis.... my 3 year old has it. There are only 5000 known cases. Its life threatening..... www.curejm.com
  4. Why don't you try any of the 86 or so sleep disorders that we suffer from.Mainly apnea and narcolepsy.20 to 30% of the population is suffering and going undiagnosed , you might find it interesting once you look into it.
  5. Spontaneous combustion toxoplasmosis irritable bowel disease phantom pregnancy syndrome the elephant man the guy from the movie "mask" (Eric Stoltz movie) can't go wrong with a little Black Death I know these aren't as cool as you'd like, but it's all I could come up with!!
  6. You mean Tree Man? Oh yeah - it's a strange one, but it looks like he's getting some help. What he has is probably the most unusual condition you can work with...everything else seems...dull by comparison. A few links that might help. Hopefully the places hosting these won't have changed them by the time you get there. The British papers are fabulous for that. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/1569156/Tree-man-'who-grew-roots'-may-be-cured.html http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SnJWVsXt-78 http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/1584915/Tree-man-'who-grew-roots'-hopes-to-marry-after-4lb-of-warts-removed.html
  7. My suggestion is Fibromyalgia. There is actually a drug that is available for this condition, but you can't hardly find a doctor that believes it is a real disease.
  8. Here are a few different medical conditions....yes these are real, but not the norm you usually hear about. One of these will definitely keep your audience captivated. Hope this helps. Alice in Wonderland Syndrome Dr. Strangelove Syndrome Riley-Day Syndrome Pica Proteus Syndrome
