how do you acheive cerebral anoxia?

Public Comments

  1. By definition, cerebral anoxia is simply the lack of oxygen to the brain. There are obviously countless ways to achieve cerebral anoxia, but it is VERY DANGEROUS to intentionally do this!! Lack of oxygen to the brain can cause permanent damage and/or death!
  2. why would anyone want to achieve this?? Cerebral ischemia /hypoxia : localized reduction of blood flow to brain tissue due to arterial obstruction or systemic hypoperfusion; frequently occurs in conjunction with brain hypoxia, which is reduction in brain oxygen supply; severe hypoxia is referred to as anoxia.
  3. Quit watchin' movies.
  4. Well, I don't know why you'd want to but there are several ways this can happen: 1. Lack of blood flow to the brain as in heart attack, bilateral carotid an vertebral arterry stenoses, or severe hypotension. 2, Severe hypoxemia as in respiratory failure through bronchospasms, paralysis of the diaphragm, extermely low pO2 tension, severe carbon monoxide poisoning (which would replace all the oxygen binding sites of hemoglobin), ventilation failure from opioid overdose, or massive pulmonary embolism (this actually might be better categorized as 1,) 3. Cyanide poisoning which basically interferes with your ability to use the available oxygen. So your brain would not be anoxic, but you can't use the available oxygen. I'm sure there may be other ways to achieve this but this what comes to mind immediately.
