Medical Questions Medical Condition Knowledge Base

If your doctor tells you that you have a medical condition, do you do everything he/she says without questions Just curious if others research their condition for options or if they do whatever their doctor says without question. Since having a medical condition, I've learned that I get better care because I research about my condition and can discuss what I've found with my doctor.
Terminated from job while I had medical condition...questions inside.? This is a long story, so forgive me for being short on words. Here is the situation. In late November I absess on my forearm that looked like the result of staph infection. I Went to my doctor Saturday morning before the start of my 9am shift. He visually confirmed it as staph, wrote me a prescription and gave me a doctors note saying I may return to work on Monday. I left the doctor and called my place of employment to let them know the situation. No one was available at the main desk to connect me to the supervisors, so I actually had the call the customer service line and get transfered to my office. When I got through it was after 9am but before the end of the 2 hour "grace period" afforded to us in the employee handbook. I came in Monday and gave my manager the doctors note. A few hours later I was called over and informed that I was being terminated because I was out of attendance "credits" despite the fact that I had a doctors note. I should also mention that my HR department would have never allowed me to work my shift with a staph infection. Given that, and the fact I had a doctors note, do I have a case for wrongful termination or discrimination against someone with a medical condition? This job is located in Florida. The attendance credits is standard operating procedure for all employes, has nothing to do with not going to work. Basically the way it works is you are alloted so many credits. Calling off results in losing a credit and perfect attendance for X amount of time gains you a credit. I guess the short of it is I don't think I should have been charged a "credit" and subsequently terminated for a situation where THEY would not have allowed me to be at work. Especially with a doctor's note.

can you help me on this medical question, kidney condition? Harry has a kidney condition that causes changes in his body’s electrolyte levels (concentration of ions in the extracellular fluid). As a result, he is exhibiting tachycardia, an abnormally fast heart rate. Which ion is involved, and how does a change in its concentration cause Harry’s symptoms?
Can i be denied FMLA if I don't want my company knowing my medical condition? My doctor provided me with an excuse stating I'm having surgery and I'm under her care from November to December. That is all i want my company to know. I was given a certification of Health Care Provider Employee's Serious Health Condition form but I feel answering all these questions violate my medical privacy. I feel the excuse is sufficient enough, can i be fired if the certification isn't completed?
Is it illegal to invent a medical condition without any medical evidence? Just as the question says. Now, this invented medical condition wouldnt be used to obtain any kind of drugs, chemicals, or services. What i'm asking is this: Is it legally permissible to pass a fictitious medical condition in an informal, social situation? Wicked. And no, its not lying about it to your friends for sympathy or whatever. Its just for shits and giggles. New medical term? SSD Sporadic Situational Disamusement. Feel free to use it on your friends Cheers!
I asked a question about a medical condition. Why was it removed? I posted a question about MH or Malignant Hyperthermia. What reason would it have been removed?
Illegal medical questions on a job application to be a nanny? Can someone please let me know if these are illegal or unethical questions to ask on a job application? This is for a nanny position, NOT through an agency. After my interview and giving them my resume they email me a lengthy application and this is the "health" section. I'm not comfortable with a lot of these questions, nor do I feel it's relevant or any of their business (i.e. have you ever been under a physician cares? what medications are you on? what is your insurance number? etc.) If someone could please let me know what the think, and give me any advice about answering them I would really appreciate it. 1.) Have you ever suffered with an emotional illness? Yes No If yes, please explain: 2.) Are you currently under a physician’s care? Yes No If yes, please explain: 3.)Are you taking any medications? Yes No If yes, please give details: 4.)Do you have any physical restrictions or other medical condition that could affect your ability to care for children? Yes No If yes, please give details: 5.)Do you have any dietary restrictions? Yes No If yes, please explain: 6.)Have you ever been under a doctor’s care for any of the following: Allergies: Yes No Asthma: Yes No Cancer: Yes No Convulsions: Yes No Diabetes: Yes No Heart Disease: Yes No Other: Yes No If you said yes to any of these health conditions or circled yes to Other, please give details of treatment below: 6.)Are your immunizations for childhood diseases up to date? Yes No Not sure If no or unsure, please explain and note here which immunizations you have not received: 7.) Are you currently covered by health insurance? Yes No If yes, please fill out the following: Health Care #: Insurance Co.: 8.) Are you willing to submit to or provide us the results of the following? Physical Examination: Yes No T.B. Test: Yes No If no, please explain: I'll also add that I already have a completed background check, and ten+ years of experience. I have a BA in psychology and completing an MS in mental health counseling. I'm definitely not a liability, and just looking for extra part time nanny positions. I can see that they may want me to be up to date with immunizations, but I don't think they need to know if I'm not birth control or not, and especially what my insurance ID is. I will gladly take a drug test, and I'm willing to see my doctor for a letter stating i'm in perfect health to care for children, I just felt that some of these questions were very personal and in all my experiences I've never been asked any of them. Hopefully this clears it up a bit.
How do you feel when you ask a question about a medical condition and a person responds w/"go to your doctor"? I wonder why they even bother answering the question...because most people have a brain to know that they can go to their doctor but would rather get some opinions...thats why they come to YAHOO ANSWERS! AAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!!!!
Serious Medical Questions on Q&A? I find it quite disturbing that some people ask questions on here about very serious medical conditions. They get replies from folks who mean well, but are not qualified doctors. It's up to the person posing the question on how they take the advice, but I worry that vunerable people may take the replies as fact.Is this something that bothers you? Should there be some guidlines on here, or a disclaimer? Thanks #3, I hadn't noticed that. Thanks for bringing it to my attention.

Question about medical condition and joining the navy...? My friend was looking at joining the navy, however she has herpes and im pretty sure she cant join becasue of that i would hate to see her sign up and then be denied cause of having that infection....does anyone know the true answer?
Am I the only person who thinks that sometimes medical questions on yahoo answers could be dangerous? I specialise in the questions relating to cardiology and luckily this often earns me 'best answer' status. But reading the replies (with no offence to other medical professionals) can be quite scary! While I feel confident in my answers to cardiological questions I have no or limited knowledge to other medical conditions, but notice that people with little knowledge often give people quite scary advice on here, telling them of their imminent death! Does any other specialist feel like this? True this can't beat medical advice but I guess people come on here to speed up the process; just amazes me that people give terrifying advice that is simply inaccurate There should be a yahoo answers specialist! Where medics can only answer on their subject, admittedly sometimes you get people who aren't their best on their own subject but it probably would be a good idea, many people come on here wanting answers to simple questions that a specialist could answer quickly and simply and give reassurance or guidance. Am I on to something do people think? Bedfordc... totally agree but I'm not a doctor! I'm a physiologist which involves technology in testing people for their conditions but alot of medical decisions are made from actually listening to the patient! Sounds mad, but the majority of medical conditions are diagnosed without any test. But your right, ultimately a visit to your doc is the most important
medical questions about enlistment, apointment and induction.? Will minor allergies to food color and formerly to soy (outgrew a long, long ,long time ago, in this very galaxy) that's like I can eat both of those and only sneeze for like a maximum of 5 minutes, if that and I also had surgery for snoring as a kid, but that healed back exactly as it was before the surgery. Also I want to know what is the worst medical condition a person has had that you know of and they've still enlisted/commissioned? Best story gets 10 points! I am trying for fixed wing pilot slot. I don't want to lie or not disclose information, however I won't tell them any more then they ask. they'd find out about the allergies during my security clearance hearing, and I don't want to go to jail for 3 year.
Why are there no good medical questions in the Yahoo Answers Health section? This is just a repeat of my previous question in search of diagnostic inquiries that cannot easily be answered by looking on Wikipedia. Do not post them as an answer to this question, make a separate question on Yahoo Answers and put the link to it as your answer here. A few general guidelines for serious health questions: 1. Include age, weight, height, race. 2. Include your main symptoms, when they begin, what makes them better and worse, the location, and any associated symptoms. 3. Include known medical conditions (heart disease, diabetes, etc.) 4. Include any medications, vitamins, supplements, etc. you are taking. 5. Tell me about any street drugs you are taking. 6. Amount and frequency of tobacco use and alcohol consumption. 7. Any other random complaints or symptoms you have. Do this even if you don't think they are related to your main problem. It doesn't matter what they are. Examples: constipation, diarrhea, easy bruising or bleeding, swollen lymph nodes, etc. Just anything you noticed. Preferably in that order- I'll email you if I need more information. Obviously, I don't claim to be a doctor nor do I claim that I can diagnose anything definitively online. I am a 3rd-year medical student, which I have posted on my profile. I just want to see some interesting stuff and see what I can come up with. In case you have not read any of my other posts, I always advise people to go to the doctor for appropriate evaluation. And I am aware that you can't make a diagnosis without proper examination and laboratory tests. Go take a Xanax or something people.

I want to incorporate as 501(c)(3) nonprofit intended to raise money for a speicific medical condition. USMC Officer Medical Questions? I was just wondering if anyone knew some disqualifying medical conditions to prevent one from becoming a USMC Officer. I had ankle surgery last year, is this going to be a problem? No pins or needles, just reconstructive surgery. Thanks, -Katie
question reguarding medical condition in 2yr old? First some background. my daughter was born at 32 wks(a twin)weighing 3.8lbs. since then she has struggled to gain, and keep any weight at all. at a year she weighed just 9 pounds, was diagnosed with an arnold chiari malformation 2, recieved surgery to correct it, and has been on a feeding pump ever since. her intake is 1200cal per day, she weighs 20 pounds(is 2 yr 8mo) and has not gained an ounce in 5 months. She has severe headaches(trust me you can tell) and aversions to oral intake. She has little muscle tone. Cronic constipation, unresposive to any meds perscribed. sleeps ALOT. No serious sencory issues, no delays mentally at all, is just physically delayed, and seems to be uncomfortable ALL the time. No answers from a host of doctors, from her nero doc, two GI specialists, we have been through 3 peds, please, anyone who has any ideas about what to do, what to ask, who to see, what to try..anything! Other than the ACMT2 there has been no further diagnosis. thanks! funny you mention that when she was still inutero they were concerned as her heart rate regualrly dropped into the 70's. they did some sort of ultra sound that looked at her heart and it was fine. After birth she had bradiacardia events for 40 days, and then two more after coming home. Then none and the apnea monitor was turned over. Its a thought. Thankyou.

This question will pertain to a medical condition.? I have been diagnosed with a medical condition in my right leg, damaged femur. For this, it is suggested I use a cane for walking. My question, is when the injury is on the right side of my body, do I hold the cane on in the right hand or left. It was suggested to me the left hand is the hand to use; however, this makes movement of the injured leg off-balance and difficult to walk. Please advise and explain . . . thanks Dearie
embarrassing yet noticeable medical question-superficial skin condition? Well, I'm sure its obvious enough of an answer, but after walking a lot my thighs seem to rub together and then they become red and bumpy. Anything I can put on them? I know the cause and I am trying to stay in shape, but what should I use to bring down the swelling in the mean time?
Please Help!!!! Insurance questions. Medical is not working out. Pre exsiting condition.? I was under healthy families with my mother for low income families I was 17 and diagnosed with a prolactinadenoma (tumor in pirtutary). They took my insurance away when I turned 19 since it will only cover me till the age of 18. I went to apply for MEDICAL and they accepted me for free insurance. ( I was not working at the time, my income was my mother and I was living by myself) Now I am working and make about 1,000 a month I pay my rent of 645 and bills. My MEDICAL was disconitnued last year and said I had to reaply. I went to apply and show pay stubs that were a little high. My share of cost came to 456 dollars a month. I can not afford that since for my pituarty condition I have to be seen continuesly one month is follow up next month is checking prolactin levels and next month is MRI so basically I have to pay for everything. I don't make enough for this. I talked to Medical and said there is nothing to do. I am 19 single living alone. I applied for Blue Cross and was denied. They found my pre existing condition. I have a job now and been there over three months I am going to apply but the carrier is BLUE CROSS I am thinking they are going to deny me due to pre existing condition. Right? I did not have other jobs before. Is there an insurance that does not check pre existing. Medical is telling me either pay for the bills or stop working for free medical. Does Kaiser look into previous pre existing. Please help I need to be seen soon for this but can not afford to pay. I was recently sick and right now I have to give my share of cost and paid over 200 dollars for medicine. PLEASE ANYONE HELP!!!!

Help! Serious Medical Question!? Serious Medical Condition/Question! Help!? Just about half an hour ago I jumped into the pool to swim a mile. I felt great, but on the first lap, a stopped in the middle in shallow water and my right arm went numb. It was like time slowed down and I couldn't do anything or move. I tried reassuring myself mentally, I remember thinking "It's okay, it's okay, look left what do you see? Black. Spell black: b l a c k. See you can remember. How do you spell left: l e f t, l e f t, l e f t..." Every time it became harder to spell left and I had to reassure myself to do it. Finally, it felt like right before I would've blacked out, the numbness started to go away and I could move again. And I looked right instead of left. After I was fine. I was shaken but I swam a 1000(couldn't pull myself to do the mile I was too shaken) but physically, and mentally I'm fine. Thing is I'm 18. And this has happened a few times before. The first time it happened was 2 years ago warming up for a water polo game at my highschool. That one my arm just went numb for a bit and I move from where I was standing. The second time it happened that I remembered was at my house I ran up the stairs about a year ago and I fell to the ground. My arm went numb and this time I found I had to focus on remembering and even looking to see what was right in the corner of my eye on my right. I'm worried that this is getting worse. I don't know what it is at all. I'm not in the best physical shape(but I can swim a mile thanks to being on swimming in high school). Anyone please help! Is this serious? Should I go get an MRI or CAT scan or something or talk to a neurologist? Note: Sorry for reposting this. I posted this question in the wrong category last time!
Just a couple medical questions i need answered.? Ok so i came down with a temp of 102.5 on monday night. I went to the doctors they drew blood and gave me an IV. When my blood tests came back they said my white blood cell count was very high and they didn't want to speculate what it was until after i went for a cat scan. The cat scan showed i had viral pharyngitis. Now would my blood test have shown any other infection or diseases in it when they screened it? Because i know a lot of things can be wrong when your white blood cell count is high. So since they didn't diagnose or tell me i had any other infection except for viral pharyngitis am i being to paranoid about other medical conditions that deal with high white blood cell counts?

Question about the Air Force and a medical condition? My sister is in basic training for the Air Force and went into cardiac arrest. After several days in the hospital she is now diagnosed with Grave's disease and I'm wondering if the will medically discharge her and let her come home? I wasn't saying anyone forced her to do anything I'm just worried about my sibling she enlisted because she wanted to follow in a family tradition and serve her country. I'm just worried since my sibling almost died so plese show a little compassion and empathy!
Do you think it's foolish to seek medical advice here? I recently answered a medical question about bleeding pregnancy by saying "People who seek medical advice on line are idiots." I got yelled at by Yahoo. OUCHIE. But seriously, if you have a serious medical condition and you ask people here what to do, arent you an idiot? And shouldnt Yahoo have a disclaimer that tells you that in such situations advice here should not be a substitute for medical attention? Some great answers so far. I am an attorney, and I often answer legal questions with a disclaimer saying they should seek advice. Especially when there is a serious question involved. However, medical problems can compound faster and have more serious consequence. That's why I think Yahoo should have a disclaimer. Not to cover themesleves. But to help make sure people understand serious medical problems require serious medical attention. If we are here to help, then we should help by getting people to help themselves. AB, I'm the sort of attorney who thinks people should not rely on artificial means when it comes to their health. I actually care about them. And I did NOT call the asker an idiot directly. I just happen to think that relying on people on the internet in such serious situations is foolish. I'm not looking for friends or affirmation. I want to make sure someone doesnt get hurt. If that bothers you, that's your problem. Not mine.
Medical Question regarding taking a plane ride? Other than pregnancy, what medical conditions would prevent me from taking a plane trip. The trip would be about 2700 miles.
Question about a medical condition? What would happen if a person with diabetes insipidus were to drink alcohol, like around 5-6 drinks. Would it be extremely unhealthy or perhaps even fatal for them, or would it probably just make them feel crappy for a day or two? Thanks! Oh, I also forgot to mention, If the person were to make sure they stayed plenty hydrated before and after drinking, and took some vitamins such as B12. Yes, i realize its unhealthy to drink to excess for anyone, but please consider the point of my question!
Is this a real medical condition? It's been discussed on several crime dramas as being a real disease but I haven't found anything in actual medical reference books that support that claim. The condition in question is a woman who believes herself to be pregnant and shows all the physical symptoms but yet she is not carrying a baby at all. While a person can believe anything they want and it not be true, how would something like this even be possible?
Is Asexuality normal or a medical condition? Most humans (and all animals) are sexual, its biological, its nature. Besides the pleasurable and romantic aspect, it's how life continues. So to see asexuality, seems a bit abnormal to me. My question is, Is Asexuality a biological/medical condition? Or completely normal? NO DISRESPECT WHATSOEVER. I am not asexual lol
How do you determine what is a dangerous medical or mental condition? I am looking to move to a foreign country. The tough part is figuring out what the definition is a certain medical questions. The Problem is that in many of the cases that they list on these forms it does not make sense as you can not always know what their definition is. Many people may have some of the conditions listed. Many conditions just don't go away, but they can be control with proper treatment programs. Because in many of these cases, you either have the condition or you don't. But it might be under control,or perhaps the condition has not been a problem for many years. So how do you answer these questions?
Question about my medical condition? Hi. I have been dealing with a condition for about 1 years now that no doctor can seem to figure out. My symptoms are: a constant lightheaded/dizzy feeling which gets worse when I excersize (I'm very active), feel very disoriented sometimes along with the lightheadedness, my eyes feel "sore" especially when I look way up way down or side to side and I see little black circles when I do that. I recently started occassionally getting symptoms of virtigo. My eyes are very sensitive to light and ears are sensitive to loud noises. I had sinus surgery about 1 years ago right after I started having these symptoms because I had a terrible sinus infection. I have had MRI's done and have ruled out neurological problems. Could these be symptoms of a nerve pinch, inner ear infections (labrynthitis I believe it is), or some kind of blood flow to the brain problem? Any information that anyone can give me would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
Besides a medical condition or poor nutrition, why would a dog be underweight? Just curious - I've seen questions from several people asking about their underweight dog.
Why do people ask medical questions on yahoo? Do you think its because of the price of medical help? Or, are they looking for someone who has something in common with their condition that can give just as good advice as any medical provider?
Is it true that being born in the wrong gendered body is a recognised medical condition? In an answer to one of my questions about transgender people someone stated this as a support for making "gender correction" surgery necessary and I had never heard of such a thing. Is it true?
Why do people ask if something paranormal is going on when they have symtems of a medical condition? I believe in the paranormal and all but I am seeing questions where the person should go to a doctor. I am not trying to be rude or disrespectful but just wondering.
United States Air Force Academy Medical Help? I am applying to the air force academy and I have a question about what medical conditions prevent you from an appointment. I have sinus arrhythmia which is some degree of change in heart rate related to respiration is often seen in healthy young people (speeding up with inspiration and slowing down with expiration) and has no significance. Would this prevent me from getting into the academy? Also, would this prevent me from getting into flight school after the academy? My last question is for pilots. While pulling g's would an irregular heart beat make it more of a challenge to stay conscious? Thanks for the responses.
Where's a good site to ask medical questions and get an actual response? I have some issues and there is a 24 hour nurse line I can call, but they tend to want to send me right to the ER. I am currently being scheduled for testing for my condition, so I'm not gonna run to the ER when they won't be able to do much. Any place out there where I could chat back and forth and get some questions answered?
Could you tell me why people ask medical questions on line? Why would they want to play games with their lives by asking question to people who really don't know? The only thing I can ever say is see a doctor. The only thing logical to say to me. I noticed that some people have some very serious symtoms, and some people are giving them some very dangerous advice. You can't tell somebody that is losing weight that they need more sleep. They could have cancer, be anemic or a number of serious other conditions. You may think you are helping by giving them an honest guess, but it could cost them their lives. People Go and see a doctor with your medical problems. Most of us do not qualify to answer your medical questions.
Calorie burning question, I have a medical condition that limits my breathing so I was wondering if that? affects the amount of calories I burned. I have vocal cord paralysis, in short My cords open about 3 cms of space for breathing while average is 12cms. So in theory I figured since I take in oxgyen at a rate of 4x slower then everyone else, doesnt it make sense that any cardiovascular activty is 4x as stressful on my body? Becasue the slightest cardio causes me to breathe very heavily and I sweat constantly making me think I possibly burn off calories 4x faster then most. I just wanted to know some others professional opinion so I can adjust my dietary needs, Im trying to gain weight but it is difficult becuase i may not be figuring in the extra calories I need a day becuase my medical issue.
question about a peircing with my (neurological) medical condition? i really wanna get a (facial) peircing. either one below my lip, one on my eyebrow, or one on my nose. but my mom keeps insisting that we need to ask my doctor if its safe (when we go to the doctor tomoro) since i have chiari malformation (its not big though)(its a small malformation). cause my mom keeps saying that she wants to make sure that my facial peircing wont interfere with my neurological problem. what do you think? could it?
How do you ask someone what kind of medical condition they have without sounding like an a$$hole? You know how there are physical abnormalities you can see but cannot place? Well, I'm a very curious person, and the more I know about a person's condition the closer and more comfortable I feel around them. I do realize that this is a very sensitive subject (hence me risking already being considered an a$$ for even questioning), and so I want a serious answer, if possible. Thanks
can you still model if you have a medical condition? I know this may be a stupid question to ask but, Can you model if you have a medical condition? I was born with neurofibromatosis , look it up if you dont know what it is i dont have it all that bad. But i know the modeling agencies want people who are perfect. My friends told me i can make one hell of a model. I just need opinions thats all. Thanks
Question for medical professionals..why do I still have acne at age 37? I have had acne for 25 years. It's not as bad now as it was when I was a teenager, but I never thought I would still have it at my age. I have tried everything from antibiotics to acutane. I've also tried almost every topical product (except for Proactive). I have seen numerous doctors and none of them have been able to completely get rid of it. Is it possible that I have an underlying medical condition?
Medical Condition? High Red Cell Count/ Small Cells? Condition: - 30 year old, had tonsils removed, and severe case of mono-like infection several months ago. - Not overweight, eat healthy, did exercise frequently before illness. - For six months, been really weak (not able to do normal activities/work, etc), persistent low grade fever (~100), and headaches. - latest blood tests show high red cell count/ small cells. - low white cell count as well - latest blood negative for Mono and all other infections tested. - Negative for STDs, etc. - No cancer or blood disease runs in family. I have been seeing a variety of Family doctors/Specialists over 6 months and still no idea what could be wrong with me. I am going to a new hemogloban (sp?) specialist next week and would like to prepare to ask questions. Anyone working in the medical profession that could give me some good questions to ask or some sites that may give me more detail on what this could be? I've done a lot of research on www.mayoclinic.com already. Thank you.
Weird medical question regarding the thumb nails....? If you have wavy indentions in your thumb nails or any other finger nails, does this mean that you have a medical condition and if so, what conditon(s)?

My question relates to a medical condition? If you have erectile dysfunction what are the cures for it other than oral medication?
Should there be guidelines regarding Q&As about medical conditions discussed here? I've only just joined Answers this week but have noticed the crazy number of people that ask questions about about medical conditions. Obviously we are all just trying to be helpful but what if wrong and unfounded opinions are taken for fact? Could this be a disaster waiting to happen? You guys all make a lot of sense, but I still just can't shake off the feeling that there will be more than a few unlucky people that will read a particularly eloquent and seemingly knowledgable person's answer and forget the reason for Yahoo's disclaimer being in place!
Is there a known medical condition that causes people to see upside down? This is just a random question that came to mind one day during a particularly LONG trip home.

Do grossly overweight have just a medical condition or do they eat too much? People who weigh over 18 stone must have to eat a lot to sustain themselves. My question. Does dieting work for everyone or do some people really need surgery.? Maybe its a bit of both ?

sex question: my boyfriend has a medical condition where he can't feel one half of his body...? Ok, so we've only been dating for a week but last night we kind of...ya know...but there were all these problems! - first he kept unhardening inside me - second it would take him like thirty seconds to get back up - third (the wierdest thing) we were at it for an hour and a half STRAIGHT before he came I didn't know what to say the whole time...i just thought he had really long stamina or something...for the first half hour. He kept saying we could stop if i was too sore but i was sure that it would end sooner or later...but it didn't! He told me afterward that he had a medical condition where he can't feel the right side of his body due to some kind of heart complication (which makes sense cause he has a huge scar on his chest) but i was didn't ask anymore about it because i didn't want to make him feel embarresed or uncomfortable. However, i can't live without sex so i need to know how to fix this. I just want to know if viagra would help, and if it would, where can i get some for him? ...and if i do get it how do i tell him to use it in a nicer way?

Who thinks that some of the answers to medical questions are downright dangerous? If you don't have a clue about a disease or condition and are not qualified to answer please don't Someone may actually believe you

Coast Guard seeing a therapist/medical/other questions? Joining the Coast Guard and medical/mental conditions (social anxiety disorder, varicocele, etc.)? Hi- I'm really hoping to join the Coast Guard soon, even talked to a recruiter and everything. I've been looking over the enlistment packet and just had some quick questions if anybody can help clear them up. First, on the medical part it asks if you've ever seen a pyschiatrist, psychologist, or therapist for any reason within the last 7 years. I'm 23 now, but when I was 16 my parents made me go to a psychiatrist for social anxiety disorder. I was going through a rough patch in school and they decided to send me there even though I objected to it. The psychiatrist put me on anti-anxiety pills for about 8 months and then allowed me to go off of them. Even now my parents admit they overreacted but that they were just looking out for my well-being. My mom is really sick over the whole situation and feels that it will be all her fault if I'm not accepted. At the moment I am about 6 months or so away from the cut off time of 7 years but I am hoping to get in asap. I also saw a therapist for two sessions in college during my senior year. I had a falling out with a good friend and was referred by someone else to go talk to someone about it on campus. I did for 2 sessions but I felt it never really helped and I ended up resolving the falling out on my own. At first I wasn't going to admit to it on the form since I felt the whole thing was very insignificant, but figured I might as well. Also, I'm not sure how far they look into personal records. The therapist was something that was free for students (came out of tuition money) so I'm not sure if something like that could even be accessed. My only real medical concern is that I have a varicocele on my left testicle. I've done research and found that that can only be DQing if it is painful or exists on the right testicle, but then again, I'm always very skeptical about it, I mean I never thought that seeing a therapist nearly 7 years ago could be a possible dsqualifier either. Does anybody have experiences with any of these issues? Basically, I just want to know what to do. I figured I definitely need to admit to things that have a paper trail, like the medication and social anxiety disorder from 7 years ago, but since it was mild it might not be a problem. Should I even mention the therapist thing from college? It was so minor and I honestly forgot about it until I saw the question regarding therapists. The varicocele thing will come out I'm sure (since I believe you have to release medical records to them) but I'm not too worried about it. Just wanted to see if anyone had any experiences dealing with these issues, preferably in the Coast Guard, but any branch of military will help also. Thanks!
Is there a medical condition resulting in constant lateness? I know this sounds like a ridiculous question, but I have to ask because I can't believe the immense number of people in life who can't seem to handle being somewhere at a certain time. Is there some kind of disorder that causes one to believe that there is an infinite amount of time to get something done? For example, someone has to be somewhere 30 minutes away at 7pm, but thinks he'll be on time if he leaves home at 6:50pm? And this isn't on one occasion, but constantly?
For those who r interested in medcine..What was the medical syndrome that Marlyn Monroe suffered ? i know the ans, but everyday i ask a question like this about medical condition of a celebrity .. which wasn't revealed to the public.. to make some life on this dull sector.. 10 points goes to the first one knows the ans Enjoy ur time Rather than Depression.. it was one of the signs of her syndrome i will facilitate the subject to u all.. it was a sex gene aberassion.. she was mildly idiot for those who noticed that.. but she was s perfect female.. she had six toes in one foot....? Excellent Aoenturnip.. she was a super female..normal females as us their sex chromosomes r XX but she had an extra one XXX.. X trisomy its residence is about 1:1000 females of the population .. most of them r discovered by accident .. although they appear to be perfect females, they develop ovarian failure.. good work.. take on my questions i have posted some stuff like this Yes i know that she suffered depression .. because ladies of this syndrome r psychologically unstable and have suicidal attitudes.. thanks for those who said depression or bipolar manic depression
After 12 years of honoring brother's wishes...I disclosed his medical condition to other brothers.? His condition became deadly and we all questioned his ability to make choice to seek medical attention. Emergency physician's care was required. He's currently hospitalized. What would you have done?
Why do people ask questions about emergency medical conditions? What are these people thinking when they post questions like "I've just lost all feeling on my left side, what should I do?" or "It feels like there's an elephant standing on my chest, should I call 911?" What is up with this insane behavior? Should Yahoo! eliminate all medical questions? I mean who's really telling me my testicle swollen to the size of a basketball is normal?
Pre-existing medical conditions question. Hello. I am currently on Social Security Disability but am looking to return to the workforce. Unfortunately, I was recently diagnosed with COPD. My initial problems for obtaining Disability are mostly resolved. So, if I return to work and sign up for Group Coverage, will they have to cover the COPD and Anxiety? I have read where I can keep Medicaire for 4 years after returning to work, but am still curious is the same rules apply with Group Coverage. Thanks.

Why do people ask questions about obviously urgent medical conditions? ... when first of all, (I feel) they should be seen as soon as possible by a medic, and secondly, they may not get a qualified answer to their question on Yahoo! answers... If I was worried about something, I would go straight to my doctor or to Accident & Emergency. Yo, I understand the situation in the USA is different from the UK - but there's no need to call me your "furry friend", just because I don't understand your situation on that side of the atlantic. The questions don't state where they originate from and I am asking the question based on what questions are asked and how I feel about them. It does concern me that people are seeking advice from people who are not qualified to answer the question. It concerns m even more that people in the USA need to find answers on Yahoo! to ensure their health. I accept your point. My question obviously does not apply to the USA, from what you say.

What is a medical condition? I have subcutaneous lupus, is that consider a medical condition? I do take medicine for it. But I'm not sure of its meaning and I have to fill out a paper with that question. I know I am dumb. Thanks.
Serious medical condition and still deploying to iraq? My husband has a serious medical condition ( i rather not say) and his unit is still deploying him (just recently my husb learned he was having some medical problems so he took some test and came back positive, he was given meds but has not been good remembering to take his medicine that was about 2 weeks ago, anyways this week his unit is deploying and he has been having issues with this situation, and just today his dr called and said he was in perfect condition to go to iraq) to me this is alittle odd with his condition to heal in just 2 weeks and his dr had to talk with the chain of command who didnt care about my husbands sitation and wanted him to go anyways.MY question is,if something is wrong with my husband and the dr is lieing about it because thats what his chain of command wanted even though they know about his condition then what should my husband an I do? the dr talked with his commander and before he talked to the commander he told my husb he was nondeployable and after ~ after the dr talked to the commander he calls my husband and says hes good to go to iraq, now to me that sounds alittle odd...so im just wondering what we should do...we have little time seeing hes about to leave this coming thursday morning and i think this situation is very serious. I thought maybe even after he gave him a nondeployable status and profile that would mean something? and then to change it? dont you think? Well guess it dont matter much anyways they will send him on his 3rd deployment no matter what... i've learned the army dont care much for the families or its soldiers, i just thought there might be something we could do before he leaves this thursday...thanks alot though for your negative comments! ...oh by the way to the retired chief petty officer...lets see hes been working nonstop always at work hardly home and maybe just maybe he forgets to take his meds because his unit is messed up keeps him working soo late? did you ever think of that? guess not... * I wasnt talking about the dr's chain of command...i was talking about my husbands chain of command...the dr is a civilian dr that works with the military *
Medical Condition-Family Medical Leave Act? I have recently in the last year found out that I contracted HIV from my boyfriend that was unknown to me a needle drug user. I have been really devastated and stressed since this situation but I have been dealing with it with the help of family and friends. My question is I have been ill and sick lately not too much but enough to be out of work at least once a week. I was told to fill out a Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) so that I will not get in trouble for my job for leaving so much. However on the application it is asked about medical condition. I am very leary about exposing health condition to the company even though this is to be private information. My question is am I obligated to let them know my exact medical condition to my company and I am not against letting them knowing that this is recurring medical condition. But I was told by them that I have to give my exact medical condition I am scared is this true and is there away to do the FMLA and get around it? Okay I went to the Department of Labor website and saw that is says: Q: Do I have to give my employer my medical records for leave due to a serious health condition? No. You do not have to provide medical records. The employer may, however, request that, for any leave taken due to a serious health condition, you provide a medical certification confirming that a serious health condition exists. So does this mean that my doctor can say that I have a serious medical condition but not disclose what exactly it is? Thanks to everybody for all your help in this sensitive matter I appreciate this.
Need some advice for a medical condition? I have been experiencing steady and slow growth in the length and width of my penis for about a year now. For a while I was excited, but now it is becoming a nuisance. It makes it uncomfortable to wear pants that aren't extremely baggy. Shorts are pretty much out of the question. Using the restroom is a problem (the water is, in fact, very cold). Should I see a doctor? Will this stop?
Excuse me... I have a Medical Question!? could you please describe a medical condition caused by a faulty plasma membrane?
Is anyone concerned about the number of medical questions asked at Yahoo! answers? I'm not only concerned that these individuals are asking lay people for a diagnosis, I'm also concerned that the lay people (definitely unqualified) are making diagnoses. And what about the pop "psychologists"? Is this responsible behavior? Some of the physical conditions may be serious. It is OK with me to share some experiences, however, lets use our heads on this.
Disease or medical condition? i just viewed a commercial on the tv about a prescription medication for acid reflux. it referred to acid reflux as a disease. to my knowledge a disease is something that you can potentially die from and a medical condition is something that not necessarily goes away but can be treated and is non life threatening. so my question is, is acid reflux considered a disease? and if so why? is it deadly? because i have acid reflux. i know the difference between acid reflux and indigestion i was diagnosed by a doctor as having acid reflux i take daily medication for it.
Lies- is this a medical condition? Please help? I had a Friend who told lies about EVERYTHING in her life. She told us she was 18 coming up 19, but yesterday i found out she was born '91 making her 17. She wore a ring and told us she was engaged to a friends brother- but when i went to congratulate him he had never even heard of this girl. She told people she 'got with' a teacher...but then we found out this teacher has made a complaint against her because she was telling teachers this man was following her and going to her house. My question is - does she have a medical condition?
medical question????? are there any medical conditions or precedures that would involve one to need to eat things like popsicles and soda? i know this sounds weird to ask, and i have my reasons, i just dont feel like explaining. anyways, please answer. thanks
Question about my baby's medical condition? Sorry about asking this Q again but no one gave me any answers so I figured I would try one more time. My son is about 7 months and I found out he has craniosynostosis. He is going to need surgery. Our doctor said that the sagital suture (one of his soft spots) on the top of the head is 100% closed, and that we have to consult a neurosurgeon (we have an appointment in 2 weeks). I know not all surgeries cost the same amount - I am just wondering if anyone has had to have this surgery performed and the cost of it, or range of cost that they were told it would be. I have insurance and they only cover up to a certain amount and I'm hoping they don't nail me too hard.... His surgery will be between 4-6 hrs and he will have to be NICU for between 3-5 days after until they feel it is ok to release him.
Is there any medical condition that can give you a false pregnancy on a pregnancy test? Nurses or experianced people on this one please.serious question.
Does anyone agree that medical questions r dangerous? simply because they r answered by people who have no medical knowledge or background. An inappropriate answer can be taken as gospel truth, causing the asker not to seek medical advice or treatment. thereby making their condition worse. A doctor will not diagnose over the phone, what makes us think we can do it over the computer.
Multiple-level medical question: Female health and gastrointestinal help, please? I have been fairly depressed lately because I am a college student who cannot live a normal college life. I have never had sex or been able to use a tampon. I went to the gyno a little over a year ago, and it was the most painful experience of my entire life. She could not put ANYTHING inside of me without me screaming in pain. I was diagnosed with bacterial vaginosis, however, I have had the symptoms since puberty (I was not aware that my symptoms were abnormal). I was prescribed medication which did not do anything. I returned to the gyno 6 months later, and was found not to have BV, but to have a yeast infection. Once again, the treatment did nothing. It worries me that I have had vaginal infections for over 7 years and only recently discovered that I had them. Also, I have been having a severe acidic stomach for 9 months straight without anything letting up. I cannot drink alcohol (I throw up after one drink-- just another college thing I am unable to do), and my stomach is constantly burning. Is there any possibility whatsoever that having a yeast infection or BV for so long could have contributed to my stomach problem? I am very pessimistic that I will solve these medical conditions-- does anybody have any suggestions or similar experiences?
A serious question: Why is McCain so stiff? Is it a medical condition? He doesn't turn his head without turning his shoulders. This is not a dig at McCain, please only serious answers. (I know, that plea for civility will not work.) Thanks. I knew about the torture, but was unaware of the long term effects. I guess it's because in most situations, he doesn't seem to have any outward manifestations of war wounds.
I have a mass of questions regarding medical doctors and med school. Help please? Alright, I (As I said) have a bunch of questions. Question #1: What medical specialty would make me the first doctor to analize a patient's condition? Question #2: Do pathologists only work with people who are dead, or do they also do a lot with the living? Question #3: What exactly is a clinical pathologist? Question #4: Do high school grades really matter (A lot) when trying to get into med school? Question #5: Is there some kind of rotation in med school so you can figure out what you want to do? Hey, thanks. Sorry for having 5 questions in one, but I really didn't want to make them all separate. Thanks again.

Medical Questions for Biological Father? He will be out soon in 2 weeks. I found his biological father. He told me to look for him before he left. I just a name and number... I am sure it is him because with the name and number is his wife's name and children name which my husband did supply. Now I have the number I want to call it. I don't want my husband to call it only to hear him get shot down. That will break my heart to see if he was hurt. Another reason I would like to call for his medical history. We do have a son and it would be good to know some medical history in case any unforeseen events come up. What kind of medical questions I should ask? I know diabetes, heart conditions, high cholesterol, allergies, cancer and asthma. Am I missing anything to ask? Oh sorry. I forgot the first sentence. He is in bootcamp for the Marines (My husband).

Traveling with Medical Condition (Not able to walk)? I'm trying to book a flight for my grandfather who is in American Samoa..He needs medical Attention in the states and is bed ridden. They do not know what is wrong with him and he is not able to walk. My question is, if flying, is it possible to get a stretcher on the plane where he can stay during the flight? And a wheelchair is not possible, he cannot sit up right for more than an hour. Are they able to accomodate this? Thank you
Is it just me or does it annoy others seeing people here asking do I have "what ever medical condition?" Maybe im just getting cynical in my old age but I am starting to get frustrated by the amounts of questions you see here from people who ask questions like "Do I have breast cancer?" or "Am I pregnant?" or "These are my symptoms what do I have?" I have an answer Id love to give... * My crystal ball is broken right now so Im sorry but you will have to see your Dr. I mean the medical profession would not be spending Billions on medical equipment spending many years at school and getting tests done to try to diagnose a person if all they had to do was hop onto Y/A! and ask a bunch of people a question giving really vague information to get an answer as to what a person's diagnosis should be. Is it just me - or has this crossed other peoples minds? OK off my soap box now LOL
Is homosexuality actually a clinical or medical condition? Outside the highly politicised West, many nations' doctors and psychiatrists view homosexuality and lesbianism as either a less than desirable mental defect or a medical/psychiatric condition to be remedied or managed. Indeed it is a fact gay and lesbian brains very closely structurally resemble female and male brains, respectively. Hormone levels during gestation are also extremely related to sexual preference- many lesbians have endocrine abnormalities and have higher male than female hormone levels. But in the West, liberal Leftist Utopian idealism and ideologies borne actually directly from Marxist dogma has pervaded to the extent that unquestioned inclusionism is the rule. True, discrimination is not very nice at all- but sticks and stones and all that rot- furthermore these people are already protected by Law. My question is- are we dismissing useful scientific or medical reasoning for the sake of being politically fashionable- and cutting off our nose despite our face? Psychology is very far removed from being an empirical science, sorry. Psychiatry is a different story- it's based on fact not theory.
Medical Insurance Pre-Existing Condition Question? My question is about the act that was passed about pre-existing conditions and what insurances are required to covered. When I enrolled in my employer-sponsored BCBS I THINK I recall reading that if you have no breaks in medical coverage in excess of thirty days they are still obligated to pay for pre-existing conditions, is this correct? I am asking this because today I have received a "courtesy letter" from my primary insurance which I have been enrolled in since May 07 stating they are requesting information from the neurologist i just saw about pre-existing conditions. This is funny to me because I have no pre-existing conditions and even if I did, I have been covered by Tricare since birth and am still covered by them as a secondary form. Therefore, I have had no breaks in coverage EVER. So it doesn't even matter if I have or don't have pre-existing conditions, right? I put down Tricare on my BCBS enrollment form though they must've overlooked it.
What is the medical term for the condition wherein a child cannot chew or suck any thing? This question is in regards to some peculiar symptoms I have observed in my 4 year old niece. My first reaction as has been everybody else was to ignore this. But I think now it would not be appropriate to ignore as it is affecting adversely her health. From the very birth she has not been able to suck any thing. Even now she cannot chew or suck food or any liquid material. She has to be forcefully fed food directly into her throat without any chewing. With the result she has developed no taste for food including that of chocolate etc. She has grown quite weak. I had some time back read something about this condition but I am not able to trace that out. Is it a medically recognized symptoms/affliction? If so what is the treatment and if somebody can suggest some doctor in India/Canada that will be very helpful. Since she is in India where medical facilities cannot be termed excellent, the doctors have said that she will automatically learn to chew but i am not sure of that.
Can the post office fire a veteran for not disclosing a medical condition on his application? The condition didn't bother me at the time I applied and I have worked there for 2 years. The oig shows up and says that I lied on the application because i said I was healthy. I have nerve pain in my ribs from an unknown cause. I applied for FMLA for my condition and I guess this raised a red flag. The had my va medical records and basically told me that they were firing me after the report is finished in a few weeks. I have only used my fmla 3 days over the past 6 months and have no problem's doing my job as a letter carrier. There are some questions on my application that I guess I could have been more honest, but at the time my pain didn't bother me unless I was lying down to sleep. I didn't want to disclose this for fear of not being hired. I do a great job and don't understand why they are pushing this so hard. Can they actually fire me for not telling them about this nerve pain? I am very stressed out about this.
Could Homosexuality Be A Medical Condition? Plz read b4 yelling.? A recent study found that in the homosexual man the hypothalomus is small and puffy like in a heterosexual woman. And in a lesbian the hypothalomus is large and hard like in a heterosexual man. So my question is if this study is accurate wouldnt homosexuality be a medical condition? For example if a woman is born paraplegic (unable to move) we would say that she suffers from a medical condition even if her mind is sharp. If someone is born with a 30% hearing loss (such as I) we would say that is a medical condition even though it holds no bars against the ability to learn, work, etc. So if homosexuals use a medical or anatomical excuse to say that homosexulity is not a disease isnt that in fact saying that they suffer from a medical condition? http://www.beliefnet.com/story/136/story_13638_1.html this is a link to one of many articals on this subject
Free medical advice? Why do people think they can get good medical advice on Yahoo Answers? I can understand some thing, like how to relieve minor aches and pains, but there are too many questions about serious medical conditions that people are looking for answers for here. "I have blood in my urine, what should I do?" SEE A DOCTOR! "A home pregnancy test showed I am pregnant. What should I do?" SEE A DOCTOR! Are people really this stupid, or do they really get sound medical advice here?
question for Marines: How long does it take to get a Medical Waiver from the Marines? I have a medical condition and a recruiter said that once I get a Medical Waiver I could be enlisted. It has been 6 months since then. I had a serious fracture in my leg 3 years ago. A Titanium rod was surgically place inside my leg. I told this to the recruiter.
OK..I recently lost my drivers license, due to a medical condition, but with proper treatment, my condition is manangeable( I know of others with the same condition and they have valid drivers licenses)..My question is this...HOW do I go about getting my license back, I know I need to seek medical treatment, but do I need to have written documentation that I am under doctors care? and Also, because it is suspended, do I need to reapply? Or will it just be renstated? I live in Northern California, if that matters any. The medical condition I have is Sleep Apnea
What is the precise medical condition that Britney Spears is suffering from? First of all, sorry to be about the 1000th person to post about Britney Spears. But I ask this question because I'm interested in mental health matters. I'm just wondering which precise condition she has been diagnosed with. Is it bipolar disorder (a.k.a. manic-depressve illness), multi-personality disorder, disassociative disorder, or something else? Or perhaps the shrinks haven't made an official disagnosis yet? The newspapers seem to be saying different things. Most are going with the bipolar thing, but just a few are saying its another condition. Anyway, thanks in advance.
Paris let out after 3 days...what medical condition??? Whatever!!!? Can you believe this?? Are you serious?? Wow..so this is how it works, claim a medical condition or make yourself sick & they'll feel sorry enough to release you to an ankle bracelet to serve out your time in the lap of luxury, her home. I knew this was gonna happen...thats why I posted a question yesterday asking if she was still in jail...boy im good! http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070607/ap_on_en_tv/paris_hilton
Could Demerol treat an underlying medical condition causing migraines? For many years now, I've brought a friend to the emergency ward to be treated for migraines that were brought on by a childhood stroke. The stroke left him completely without sight in one eye, and partially sighted in the other. Treatment occurs about once every ten days. The only thing that works on the migraines is demerol. Once when he was being treated he was hooked up to an EKG and I noticed that the two blips of a typical hearbeat merged into one peak every six beats. Based upon his facial expression I was able to deduce when the demerol kicked in, and noticed that the heatbeats became normal beats when this occurred. The above observations have led me to the recurring question of whether the demerol could be treating an underlying medical condition that is causing the migraines, versus merely acting as a narcotic. He was also recently diagnosed with a heart murmer, which is furthering this belief. My friend has asked about this, but gets the "Are you a Dr?" answer
Pre-existing medical condition? This question is for my neice she is in her 30's--She worked full time, had knee surgery five years ago. Quit that job and went back to school for her MBA. She completed her MBA in June with honors from a California State Uninversity. She was working part time at the college, student loan, and had surgery again. Now she is working for a non-profit organazation, no medical insurance, paying back her student loan. The doctor told her that she will need surgery within one year. Question--is there any organazition that would cover pre-existing conditions?

Sorry, I asked a sim question, but how do I tell a girl I have a medical condition? I am now 22 years old…I suffer from anxiety and OCD and currently am unable to work and am receiving social security until I can work (I just mention this b/c when a girl wants to know what you do, i dont know what to say). Anyway, because of my OCD and anxiety I have never even been on a date. I got crushed by one girl and just kind of gave up. It is already extra hard ask a girl out with my anxiety, and when this girl crushed my heart, things just got harder and like I said, I gave up. I want to get involved in a relationship but I just feel like I have too much baggage that a woman would be able to take on. Is this true? Or can they look past this and accept me for me? Also, how do I tell a girl and how far into a relationship should I tell them? What would a girl think of a 22 year old virgin who has never been on a date in my situation. Be brutally honest, I want to know honest reaction. Thanks to anyone who answers.
Please help? Medical condition problem!? i've asked this question before, but it's just that i have this sensation of diziness or drowziness (SOMETIMES) and I feel strange, and I feel really aggressive and angry, and I feel dizzy, nervous, and very tired. The room starts spinning, I see people differently, and I don't remember things. I feel like I'm talking louder than usual, etc.... Some people suggested it that it was hypoglycemia, however I checked on what that was and it stated that hypoglycemia was only if you ate very little, and in my opinion, I eat A LOT. Eating is like my.. HOBBY lol. But can anyone please help me because my mom just think it's normal for teenagers to have this??
i kinda have a medical condition and i think god is trying to tell me who i should tell...? without going into too much detail, ive been getting signs a lot lately to tell somebody about me that i dont talk to anymore.... and the scary thing is, before i even found out about my health, i wrote a song that just one day popped into my head.... and it talks about the person that i think im supposed to tell... so my question is.... is this all just a coincidence or is it a string of signs???? help
